Is this a mainstream book that many people hold by? This is the book that says certain names are not to be used, like the well-known example of the name "Shira." I got the book and I am very disappointed that so many wonderful names are either not to be used, or "not recommended," according to the rabbis cited, and typically no reason is given. I want to disregard what the book says about specific names, but I want to be sure I'm doing the right thing as well. Anyone have info on this?

Never heard of this book. What could be wrong with the name Shira?

I have no idea what's wrong with it. To me, it's a beautiful name. I'm hoping this book is just the opinion of a few people and not something I need to pay attention to.
