Does anyone know the law in nyc- how much notice does a landlord have to give a tenant if he's making repairs which will affect the tenant while he is working? If he needs to turn off the water for a few hours, for example, how much notice does he legally have to give?? Anyone??

I don't think it boils down to exactly a certain amoutn of days or hours, but in your lease it prob. says "reasonable" notice - which means a day or so in most cases.

Most landlords just call to say, is it ok to shut the water for some time...but if hes really annoying you, try calling 311.

Sometimes they can't give you notice if they are fixing an emergency.
