I made great Linzer cookies with almond flour so I personally wouldn't go through the hassle of making the second recipe with whole almond rather than using almond flour. I got mine from Trader Joe's.

I don't have my recipe in front of me but I think it was similar to the Kings Arthur receipt. KA recipes usually turn out well as I find them to be reliable since they are in the business of getting people to buy their stuff to bake with.

I think some reviews might be due to user error as baked stuff needs to be followed exactly. When I made these, I was tedious rather than really difficult as I had to be sire the sizes were uniform and I had enough tops to match the bottoms. :-)

I have some other Linzer recipes if you want to be further confused as I am a cookie recipe collector. On of my online friends published a cookie recipe book a few years ago and all her recipes are wonderful.

There's a substitute on the bottom - I wasn't planning on grinding the almonds.

And yes, please, do confuse me more! I'll take a tried and true recipe!
