My husband and I have a scheduled short meeting to discuss something with a Rav in our community who my husband is close with. We don't daven in his shul. Our shul does not have a rav. I feel like we should give him money for his time. My husband asks him all of our sheilos. My husband says that this is not done. He is a community rav and is there for the community. I'm especially curious to hear what wives of community rabbeim say. And if you think that we should give him money, and how to present him with the money? Thank you!

Who pays the community Rav? Are you in Israel?

You should definitely make a donation to his shul and/or join as associate members ( even if you don't go).
- not a wife of a shul rabbi but a daughter

I remember hearing that people give $$ to their Rav when selling the Chametz for this purpose, and that that is the "accepted" time to do that.

We sell our chametz through our rav, and I think we include a generous check then.
Occasionally, we give a check in Elul/tishrei too.

I would pay membership dues to his shul even if you don't attend minyanim there.
If membership costs at this rabbi's shul are above your means, then give a nice donation to the shul.

"All" your shailos (does this happen a lot?) and a private meeting with a rabbi at a shul where you are not members? And this is in the US where formal membership exists at most synagogues and pays the rabbi's salary? Make a donation to the shul. There is usually a "rabbi's discretionary fund" to be used for tzedaka in the community.
