I'm shouting out to all kriyah teachers,in hopes that I'll find the sefer I'm looking for. My 5 year old is ready for kriyah and may want to stay home next year, and asked to learn kriyah, so I'm teaching her from the seforim we already have - Sefer hamesoros and the kriyah step by step books.
I do remember years and years ago teaching from a different sefer, possibly in a chabad pre school and it seemed organised in a way I found easier to teach (although I am not complaining about how the other seforim, cv's). It is hard to describe, but I'll try my best. It spend more time on the nikkudos, for example, with the kommotz, it would have pages and pages of one ois with a kommotz, then two ossios with the kommotzes, then progressed to 3 letter words with the mommotzes, then went on to the patach, etc.
Sorry if this sounds more like Chinese, I just can't describe it so well. Any ideas about which sefer this is?

Check out Sara gross's kriah books. They're on Amazon. She's a real Kriah specialist and her books r amazing!

lamdeni sounds like what you are describing. Also used in mavo lakriah and ezer mavo lakriah but lamdeni comes with pictures and workbooks.

Sounds a lot like Hamelamed which is what I use (in a chabad school).

side note look into the aleph champ system which may be more motivating for home schooled and has a website for the kids - see if you can purchase it for individual use

Op there are two different methods. One is teach all letters and then all vowels. This is most common as it follows the school curriculum. Some good curriculums include aleph champ, Tamar shuchat's dot by dot, virtually any sefer kriah (ie just reading pages not worksheets and coloring) sold in any judaica store

The second method is mavo lekriah which teaches aleph, Bais, kamatz. Veis, patach. This promotes quicker learning but doesn't follow school curriculums (where you usually learn all letters in nursery)
Resources for this include the eizer, lamdeni, Reishis chachma, and av bchachma workbook.

So which method do you want and what is kids age/what is kid up to

Trixx - she is 5, finishing UPK. She knows all the oissios and knows kommotz and patach. She reads the pages from Sefer hamesoros which have 3 letter words using just kommotz and patach but I think it would work better if I had more resources with each nikkud, so she could practise more words with those two nikkudos, rather than go onto tzerey, etc.

I think this book used to be orange and green, the classic kriah book?

Again check out Aleph champ they're great to work with

WalderEducation.org has some terrific misc resources you might like. Thinking specifically of short books per vowel which you can print but also activity ideas

I like to use ezer mavoh lekriah because I teach in a day school. Some kids come in knowing all the alef bais and some kids don't know any alef bais so this works that the kids that know alef bais are not bored in the beginning. I also like to use step by step along with ezer because it follows a similar order and it is more kid friendly and fun but I find that it doesnt have a lot of practice so I use both together.
Eta: I also include daily a game and/or sensory activity so that kriah stays fun.

I'm the director of a chabad hebrew school. We use the Alef Champ series to teach kriah. Google it. Its a chabad publication.

Alef champ is a very poor method. I strongly recommend against it.

Really? I also have a Hebrew school and so far seems to be working very well for all the students. In the school I went to as a child it was used as well. The students find the system very motivating.

So many people use it successfully. I've only heard good things.
