I've been struggling with my weight my whole teenage & adult life. 2 kids & yoyo dieting left me with 50+ lbs to lose. I tried so many different things but I couldn't stick to anything & I would gain everything back plus.
Purim time something happened I'm not even sure what. But I've been able to make some significant changes in my diet that have been sustainable.
I've really been thinking before I eat about what to eat & how much.
I have a wedding in July. I got a dress right after pesach. Today I tried on the dress at the dressmaker & it needed to be taken about 1 inch on both sides!!
I'm so proud of myself & im so thankful to Hashem for helping me get healthy & feel better about myself!!

What kind of bitter woman would 'hug' the OP's brag?

Good for you, keep it up (or rather down).

Please forgive me if I'm misunderstanding, but are you seriously berating people for hugging the OP as a way of virtually celebrating her obvious and well-deserved joy? If so, why? If not, I'd appreciate your explaining what you meant; I just don't get it--are these hugs meant only to comfort? Thanks very much.

You're probably new here, but hugs are generally used in lieu of a dislike button.

Only by certain people. And this is a misuse of them.

Wow. Interesting. Actually, I've been a member for many years. I had no idea that a hug could mean anything other than, well, a hug. Logically, it makes no sense (to me, anyway) to give a hug such an incongruous meaning. I guess it would be a good idea for you (and others who have been similarly assuming the worst) to, rather, assume that if someone's hug seems to make no sense as a "dislike", perhaps that's because it's simply meant to convey a heartfelt hug.
