Whole30.com is the best resource for you. They have shopping lists, lists of allowed foods, rules, Q&A etc. My advice is don't go into it unprepared.

I was thinking that tomorrow will be eggs with cut veg in the morning, tilapia with broccoli in the afternoon, and chicken breast with butternut squash and salad for dinner? Soup, vegetables and more protein if needed during the day. What about you?

Violet- some questions.

What do you do after the 30 days?
What do you do about Challah?
What do you actually eat?
How much weight did you have to lose and how much have you lost and how quickly?
How much can you eat?

You reintroduce each food group, one at a time, and observe your reactions. Then go back to Whole30 eating for at least 2 days before reintroducing another food group.

If by the end of 30 days you have not achieved the results you wanted, you may want to continue Whole30 for another month or two before reintroducing things. For me, it took about 3 months for my migraines to go away, and then once I reintroduced things I was able to get accurate results for what caused them.

Personally here's what I've figured out after several cycles -
To avoid migraines, I need to stay off gluten and dairy completely and mostly avoid corn and soy (tiny amounts as ingredients are usually okay for me).
To lose weight and feel my best, I need to do Whole30 as well as avoid potatoes, fruit and nuts (big overeating triggers for me).

But everyone is different! Think of it as a science experiment. Smile

Ask your rav. Best to at least do gluten-free challah if allowed to. I did not eat challah because I was trying to heal my migraines and needed to eliminate foods completely to be able to know what was causing them.

Usually something like this:

Breakfast - eggs in some form and coffee with almond milk

Lunch - either leftovers from dinner or tuna with some sort of veg

Dinner - chicken, meatballs, hamburgers, salmon
roasted veggies or salad

But there are so many ideas out there! Chani Apfelbaum's Whole30 ebook is great - on busyinbrooklyn.com.

That has depended on many things! When I follow the template, drink enough water and get enough sleep, I usually lose 2 lbs a week. Overeating fruit and nuts, not sleeping enough and stress can definitely affect that though.

Since beginning my Whole30 journey I'm about 25 lbs lower than I was - however there have been ups and downs!

Look up the Whole30 template on their website - the closer you stick to that, the more successful you will be at losing weight. But it's not about measuring and counting calories - just eyeballing appropriate servings. I eat TONS of veggies and have learned to love them!

Thanks violet!!!!

Can you eat rice? Or potatoes and fruit really the only allowed carbs? I am more tha 100lbs overweight Sad

Also I'm not a vegetable fan. If I was I guess I wouldn't be so fat. How do you get to like them?

Meal template: https://whole30.com/downloads/.....g.pdf
Sample shopping list: https://whole30.com/downloads/.....t.pdf
Sneaky additives cheat sheet: https://whole30.com/downloads/additives.pdf

Rice is not allowed. Before I did my first Whole30 I maybe ate vegetables once a week, as lettuce salad doused in dressing and covered in croutons/chinese noodles/chips. Your taste buds really truly will change when you cut out sugar and sweeteners!

Here are some ways I love vegetables:
-almost any veggie roasted with oil and spices (and sometimes balsamic vinegar)
-Asian-style angel hair coleslaw
-Israeli salad
-My amazing kale salad (will post recipe, don't have time right now)
-Cherry tomatoes or baby carrots dipped into delicious homemade ranch
-Broccoli or spinach or zucchini kugel
-Sweet potato kugel
-Zucchini "noodles" with pesto, cherry tomatoes and tuna

I'll try to post more soon!

Ok so I so I was just about going to stuff my face with bread or rice or something because I am sooooo hungry. Actually I did eat a bit of rice that was in the leftover chicken soup, but never mind. But then your post came and gave me chizzuk. So really you hated vegetables and now you like them? How long did it take to start liking them?

Thanks babysmum for starting this thread!

What type of Chinese noodles/chips did you use?
I love mayo based dressings, what type of Mayo can I use?
I'm ok with making my own, is it ok to make it with avocado oil.

Oops I just realized how that sounded! I meant before starting my first Whole30, not while doing it! No chips are allowed.

Yup, homemade avocado oil mayo is definitely allowed! I make it all the time.

Absolutely. Super healthy for the baby. You might need to add a few mini-meals between meals. Make sure to eat enough!!
