Assume that I'm short enough that the length of this will be fine. Assume that I'm going to wear it with a shrug. Assume I'm fine with the collar, even if you're not.

Just one question -- is this too close to white to wear to a wedding.

In my circles- it would be very appropriate.
It's beautiful. May I ask where it's from?

Looks pink. Also I'm not sure what color, but I'm sure there's a color that will help bring the pinkness out

Pink, blush, and peach shades are always appropriate for weddings, and are very flattering.

Very pretty dress and perfectly fine color .

Written by the mother of a kallah, all of whose friends were seriously annoyed if a guest wore white to their wedding.

Supposedly, wearing white makes you look like you're trying to upstage the bride. Personally, I think as long as you're not wearing a bridal gown, you're fine. (A few people did wear white to my summer wedding, and I'm totally ok with that).

what is the reason for that? It is not competing with a bridal gown?

It's inappropriate to wear white to a wedding if you are also wearing a white gown - if you're a sister-in-law, MIL, sister, etc, and the bride is not okay with it.

Sometimes, the bride wants everyone in white (or offwhite) like Kate Middleton or a few ppl that I know.

If you're wearing a shrug, something with buttons, a suit, - basically anything that isn't a gown - it's not really in the realm of inappropriate. Especially not in the summer.

It's short and not "bridal" enough to upstage any except a very sensitive bride or a very informal wedding.

I

I've been to many weddings, my sister's included, where the entire bridal party wore white. Simple white dresses will never upstage a bride.

BTW
The dress is pink
