Due to special ed considerations, my 4yo will be attending a secular program this year. I'm not worried about teaching him alef beis or the like, he isn't capable of that. But to give him some continuing Jewish educations- basic stuff like davening, major holidays and parsha- is very important. I'm looking for ideas on how to continue teaching these important ideas for the school year. I don't want his yiddishkeit to just drop off because he's not getting it at school. Thank you!

Is there a shul with children's educational shabbos programming in your community? That would be a good start. Is there an after school or Sunday Jewish school program in your community? I hope the school is a good fit for your child!

You could hire someone one even a talented seminary girl to work with him. In my experience this works out very well!

Do you have any Sunday programs? Where I live friendship circle runs one. A friend of mine has had a fantastic experience with her child who is in PS for special needs.

What type of activities does he like to do?
Will he listen to story/music tapes?
Put these on in the background while he's playing, eating, etc.
Read and reread books on the parsha or holiday every night.
Do arts n crafts or bake something about the parsha.
Watch jewish videos.
Home has more influence then you think.
As far as davening, teach him songs, kids daven through songs.
Teach him to talk to Hashem, and thank Hashem.
The most important is to teach him a love for yidishkeit and Hashem.
