We just found out that we are BH having a boy this winter Smile this boy comes around our 8th Anniversary and we have worked hard to achieve this pregnancy.

I'm looking for a more Israeli/Hebrew name that shows the excitement of this birth. We have already excluded Natan, Simcha, Gavriel, Shmuel, Baruch and Meir. Any suggestions?

Thanks ladies!

It means "Lion of Hashem", and is also another name for Yerushalayim. I have also heard that it has a similar meaning to the name Yehudah.
It is used among Yeshivish/ chassidish circles but is more popular among Israeli's and was voted one of the most popular Israeli names.

It means Hashem's lion. My Ariel was a preemie, we named him that because he fought against the odds and beat them bh.

It's actually a very rare name in the Yeshivish and Chassidish circles. I personally like the name though just pointing that out.

Aryeh, Ari, would fit more in those circles.

Good point. Hope I'm not outing myself but I know a few in the Yeshivish/ chassidish/ Sephardic American world.

But maybe not so common besides for the people I know.

I recently learned that Gamliel is from the same root word as gomel chessed. The name implies that Hashem has done kindness to me.

Upon giving birth we say "הגומל לחייבים טובות שגמלני כל טוב" roughly translated as "Boruch ata Hashem, our Gd, King of the world, Who bestows goodness on the guilty (ie, when we don't deserve it), Who has bestowed on me so much good".

A family friend used this name a while ago for this reason.
