How much would you give for a bar mitzvah gift? In case this makes a difference, it is the son of a close-ish friend. We are invited to a mid week sit down dinner. Far Rockaway.
Thanks!

We give $100-125 for most bar/bat mitzvahs, especially if invited to a meal (NYC metro suburbs). Less if only invited to the kiddush if it is a courtesy invitation (whole shul invited, for example).

We give around a hundred when we get a personal invite or it is a boy we know. This is pretty much around the range we received. It definitely makes a difference when it is a close family friend. We also give a bit more if the family is needy.
