You are supposed to eat a seudah mafseket that is your last meal. If you want to eat supper before that's fine, but leave room for the seudah mafseket so you aren't full before the seudah. I don't know anyone who doesn't eat supper before the seudah mafseket. You are supposed to sit on the floor alone for the seudah mafseket.

I think I'll make a big omelette with mushrooms, peppers and onion ( maybe also grated carrot) and sides dishes brown rice and Israeli salad. Cantaloupe and grapes. I know it seems like a lot of eggs with the hard boiled egg for seudat mafseket but I just can't think of other ideas. Besides, it will just be DH and me.

Salmon noodle stir fry earlier on in the day 4/5pm then later on before fast starts fresh rolls/challa dips cheese cut fruit and veg.
We did this last year because the taanis came in motzei shabbos so we had a big ss and was really good. So gonna try it again!
Leftovers get used for after fast.

I made homemade bagels topped with sesame or caramelized onion and garlic. Served them with egg mayo, cream cheese and smoked salmon, fried mushrooms with Worcester source, pickles, olives. Was delicious and plentiful. The bagels take a long time but I wasn't doing much anyway and it took my mind off things.

1 onion, chopped
2-3 carrots, cubed (you can also shred them)
1 squash, cubed
1 parsnip, cubed (you can leave this out if you don't have it. You can also add other vegetables if you have or like such as green peas, parsley root, chopped celery, etc.)
Saute all of these for about 20 minutes. Add a handful of flour and mix.
Add
water
2 potatoes, cubed
paprika
salt
pepper
parsley flakes
Cook at least until potatoes are soft. (About an hour.)

I was short on time in the end so I made fish sandwiches with breaded flounder and pretzel buns and sweet potato fries. It was great. And lots of coconut water.

We had carrot and red pepper soup, salmon, roasted baby potatoes and broccoli kugel. And fruits. I'm going to serve the same for after the fast- I purposely made double so I don't need to start cooking stuff today.
I'm thinking now actually to take out some dinner rolls from the freezer and warm them for tonight too.
