I'm hosting an event soon and need your garnish ideas for a square serving of sweet potato kugel. It's simply a orange square and needs some dressing up. Must be savory.

Thank you so much in advance!

Can you spiralized some white potato and sweet potato, toss with olive oil, salt and pepper, and add to the top of the kugel 15 minutes before it's done baking?

Thanks CEF and purpleonion, roasted nuts and seeds sounds like an option, but how would I stick it to the individual portions?

tigerwife, thanks for your recommendation. I will be baking large tins and cutting into squares, how would your idea work with that?

More ideas welcome!

What kind of kugel is it? Sweet potato kugel is usually wet and lightly toasted sunflower seeds or pignolia nuts would work, they'd stick to the surface.

Something seems confused here.

Kugel is "peasant food" - it's supposed to be simple and rustic. Not something you would garnish.

If you want to go upscale, skip the kugel and make something better.

The kugel has been re-invented in the past decade or so Wink. Nothing wrong with upgrading simple food.

OP, you could roast the spiralized veggies separately and then top each square to make it neater and cooler, but that sounds very tedious. I like the roasted seeds and nuts idea better. You can also mix slightly crushed corn flakes with brown sugar and cinnamon as a topping.

Maybe combine the seeds and nuts idea with a sauce so make it stick better?
The pesto idea? Teriyaki? Tahini mixed with tiny amount of miso? Even some kind of mousse that the nuts will stick on?

Or maybe garlicky roasted red peppers will be 'sticky' enough for seeds and nuts
