Hi, we moved this summer to a new town and my daughter is so insecure and nervous about the new school year. She needs new shoes and I have no idea what to get. And nor does she. Sneakers? Mary janes?

Where are you moving to?
If its somewhere in town - venittini's if you can afford the(you can get them cheaper at 6 pm) any nice loafers if you cant.

Honestly, its going to depend on the school. At my kids' school, no one would be caught dead in those. The girls all wear sneakers. But I'm sure they're the height of style at Amelia's kids' school.
See if you can ask someone with a daughter at the school. Or go to a local shoe store and ask what the girls are buying. Or at least see if you can find photos of the girls from last year, which will give you an idea of what they were wearing then.
