I got one since most fridges open to the left, but all the kitchens we've had needed it to open to the right. The door itself is smaller, so it doesn't get in the way. This is especially important if you have a small kitchen or the fridge is opposite the island. Also if you place the fridge in the center of the kitchen, you want access from both sides. It's uncomfortable to walk around the three foot door.
