I just saw on another forum someone asking if they should make their insta-pot milchig or fleishig. So this is a spin off, I guess. Can anyone tell me exactly what an insta-pot is, and if they have one, and if they actually use it. Before I run out and get one, I'd like to see how many of you imamothers feel about it. Yay or Nay?

It's a pressure cooker- good for stews, beans, soups etc
Not a life changer for me but nice that you can put food in it and leave the house and it can stay warm after it cooks on it's own.

I have one and it's pareve still but can anyone on here explain why you would need to buy a new insert for milchig/fleishig if you can just buy a separate insert/cover/seal?

most would hold that that you need a separate lid for M and F.

Its the opposite of a crock pot. Rather than bery slow cooking, this is super fast. So my chicken soup that normally takes 8 hours on the stove top to develop that rich flavor takes 1 hour in the instant pot.

By the time you've paid for another liner ($30), seal ($15/3), and cover (I think $50 but I havent really seen the lids sold) you could have bought a whole new IP on Amazon for $80. Why buy it all separately?

I love mine. But dont buy it because I love it. Research it. Go to hippressurecooking.com and watch the "pressure cooking school" videos.

Instant Pot is the name brand of a popular pressure cooker. There are many brands. Its a pressure cooker - cooks food really quickly. Other than soups and stews, I've made roasts and chicken and gefilta fish in it! Love it.

So are you saying it's like a pressure cooker? Is it the same? Different? How?

Its not "like" a pressure cooker. It IS a pressure cooker. Its a new version of the old stove top ones. A million safety features make it more save to use, and there is no babysitting it and lowering/raising the flame. It will shut itself off if something burns (scorches) the bottom. It cant blow up.
