If you already have furniture you will want to coordinate with that, as well as paint colors if not changing. Also depends on what color the wood is.

It really depends on the wood. We didn't put any stain because adding color to the wood we had put down would have resulted in dark floors. We have a beautiful honey color finish (which ironically looked white/natural when it was raw).

"Nice" is relative!
Do you like dark? Lighter? Neutrals? I like darker, it looks richer, although it may not be a good idea for smaller rooms with less windows and lower ceilings.
For darks, look into Jacobean , and dark walnut.
medium shades, special walnut or early american.
lighter, look into natural or golden oak.
Different woods absorb the colors differently, so make sure to test it first. You can also look up these colors online to get an idea. The company that most use is Minwax.

I like dark colors. It also happens to be very current.
I have Jacobean; it looks dark but not super dark. I would have gone even darker if I would have realized that. It looks especially nice when paired with crisp, light walls.

It depends on the kind of look and decor you want for the house.
We stained our current floors white, but had very dark brown in our previous home.

Bedrooms I went with a mix of 50% dark walnut and 50% special walnut. Dining room I wanted a bit darker and richer so I did Antique Brown.
Darker colors are more "in" right now, but a tad more impractical.

Definitely have the floor guy test out a few options on your floor. I thought I wanted espresso based on online pics but ended up liking the walnut stain more.

I am also looking to redo my wood floors. The ones of you that did dark floors. Do you find that the scratches are a lot more noticeable with dark floors vs. Natural finish?

I just did mine. I did a mix of 3 parts ebony and one part gray. It's gorgeous.

We did special walnut because I wasn't sure I would like a dark wood. But now I'm second guessing myself, like if dark wood is so trendy, it must be nice, and maybe we should've done it. Does anyone else like me prefer something not so dsrk?

Yes. But the trade off was worth it to me, because I really like the look.
