Hi,
I'm looking to sell my diamond (desperately need cash...) and am looking to get the most for it. Is the diamond district in Manhattan the right place? Where would I go? Would I go from store to store? Thanks

is there any chance you'd want it back if things turned around?

Well, It's not my first choice to sell it. I just don't have an alternative right now...

You may consider a pawn shop if there is a chance you could retrieve it.

Do you have the appraisal?

Diamonds are very low now you won't get that much for it so just beware.
My friend is on 47 st. I will ask her if her husband will look at it.
Just be aware not everyone is honest on the street.
I know because my family had a business there for years and we knew dishonest people there.

If you have the appraisal, you can find out what the value of the stone is. You'll then be aware if you're getting ripped off. Make sure before you try selling it you know it's worth.

I would go to a reputable local store that you know and trust. Just going on 47 st. is dangerous. There is a very honest diamond guy. His name is Shimon Bretter, but I don't have his phone #. He is on 47 St. in Manhattan. Perhaps, someone has his contact info?

Is it safe to just go from place to place getting quotes? Is there a risk of them keeping my stone/switching it?

You could try selling it online after an appraisal. My friend did that and got thousands more than offered on the diamond exchange.
