I read that it's not safe to allow infants to sleep in an infant car seat when not in the car.

It's not practical to sleep in the crib all day because I have 2 floors.

What can I put him to sleep in during the day?

Thanks

A crib or bassinet on both floors? Is that feasible for you ?
Are you open to babywearing?

Could you go upstairs to the baby's room to put him in his crib for naps?

Did you ask your pediatrician? I asked mine a few kids ago. He said I can keep him there till 120 if the kid is comfortable.

A pack n play with a "bassinet" attachment (Graco has it).

I would just say it should be something flat, the PNP or bassinet, etc. Not the link above. Better for development and digestion... to be flat and not bent and squished. My 2 cents.

what amother ivory linked to

portable crib / pack n play. Less floor space than a full sized crib but usable til they're ready to move to a bed

bassinet, but that's usually only good for a few months

if you have a stroller with a bassinet insert, that can work too

as I'm typing this, my baby is sleeping in the car seat next to me LOL

I never heard infant seats are not safe, my kids slept in it for almost a year. Especially for naps it's ok. A stroller or swing are also good options.

my infant lived in this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Fis.....h=sem

He liked the vibration to calm him/comfort him. I had to keep pressing that button over and over once it would stop. I should have invested in something that kept vibrating for longer then just a few minutes!

I also got a baby carrier and wore him (but I didn't get into that until he was a couple of months old. with my next I hope to G-d willing start earlier).

My baby's OT was very into putting them onto a flat surface as much as possible. It allows their muscles to develop. I used a pack n play, or the larger version thereof, to create a safe place to put my baby down. If you don't have other kids at home you can also lay a mattress or play mat on the floor. I'm also a big fan of the gymini - play mat with toys attached.

It's not unsafe to put a baby to sleep in the car seat SIDS-wise, but it's not good for their spine. Also, a PT told me that it can flatten out the head. Ditto for the Rock 'N Play -- and that's a SIDS risk, because it's soft. I also recommend the Pac 'N Play with the bassinet insert. That's what I used.

But it's okay if you let your baby sleep in the car seat occasionally. Just don't make a habit of it.

A collapsible playpen or structured play at on the floor. They could nap on their tummies while you're around.
A fully reclined stroller is good too.
Get a good carrier. Very helpful for when baby wants to be held and you need your hands free.

For the first 4 months it can be dangerous to keep your kid in a carseat. Not just because of development; because of a risk of asphyxiation. The baby's airways are small, and the neck muscles are weak, so if the head slumps forward it can be dangerous. In the carseat in the car, the position is much better, but still the baby needs to be kept an eye on. For preemies this risk is increased even more. Poster who posted that her doc said it was ok, there is more awareness now, and a few weeks ago my doctor said we should try to avoid it. Unfortunately, there have been stories.

And to answer your question Smile fully reclining stroller or bassinet are good ideas (just watch the stroller straps). I do keep my infant occasionally in his carseat in the base (on ours, the position is slightly better like that), but ONLY right next to me.

Thanks for all the ideas. Baby is a newborn. I guess full reclined stroller would be best. I'm just afraid my kids will want to push him around all day.

My mother put us in a cardboard box. I even use that now with my newborn.
