I just made a roast for the first time. How am I supposed to cut it? My parents have an electric meat slicer and thats how they cut their roasts...I am not in same city as them to borrow it. Any advice is appreciate.

You need a good, sharp, carving knife. Slice against the grain.
I purchased an amazing deli meat slicer for around $140 on Amazon, and it's been a great investment. If you plan on making roasts often, I highly recommend it.

In general, there are two basic principles involved in slicing a roast:
First, start with a good, large, sharp knife.
Second, when the roast is cold it's easier to slice.
I have never tried an electric slicer so I don't know if it's comparable.
