How do make mushroom sauce? And can you use canned mushrooms?

I dont know where on the map you are located... I use osem mix for 'rotev pitriot' and I add sauteed fresh mushrooms and onions.
I also have seen people make from scratch...

I sautee an onion, add a can of mushrooms, mix a Tbs cornstarch with 1 c boiling water and I think a tbs of chicken soup mix and some salt and pepper. Cook over fire til thickened
