If I have a girl I Would like to name for a grandmother Devorah. However she had a very hard life. What can I add to make the name sound more cheerful and happy.

Any name that doesn't begin with A sounds fine.
for eg Devorah Avigail - would not be good. You can't roll into the second name from the first.
Unless you're planning on adding it but not really using it on a day-to-day basis - then it doesn't really matter.

I have an adorable Devorah Leah who's named for a grandmother. The other choice we strongly considered was Shira Devorah.

There are plenty of nice names to add to Dvorah. I would take my suggestions to a Rav or someone who is into Kabbalah and listen to his suggestions. Names are of extreme importance.

Maybe something denoting sweetness, so that your DD should have a sweet life?
I was in school with a Naomi Devorah.

Being that Devorah is 3 syllables, I don't think you should use a name with more than 2 syllables.
Some ideas-
Devorah Rina
Devorah Malka
Devorah Leeba
Devorah Rivka
Devorah Meira (has 3 syllables, but I think it goes)

I also have a Devorah to name for and many of the above combinations cannot be names due to them being my name or my mother or grandmothers second name....
I also feel silly wasting a pretty second name because I would probably call a daughter Devorah being that its the actual name I would be naming for
