I have a hankering for doing a monthlong getaway on a mountaintop and near a forest (tall trees). (Have late stage cancer and would like to relax someplace peaceful). I would look for a cabin/studio to rent. Anyone know which areas to look at? Which counties or towns or villages? Thanks!

A lake by a mountain ? I have a greater hankering for mountains than lakes :-)

The Poconos are beautiful. I remember renting a nice-sized house in the late 90s for around two thousand a month, maybe less. It was a gorgeous house with three bedrooms, a loft, DR, LR (with sleeper couch), nice kitchen, a porch. (Lots of mosquitos, though.) I remember vaguely going to a supermarket in East Stroudsburg that had plenty of kosher food (Empire chicken, etc.), though no kosher hard cheese.
Lots of tall trees and a lake. In fact, I think it may have been Lake Naomi!
It was so restful just to sit on the porch, or to take short walks around our house. We loved it.
May you have a good rest, and may this lead to a complete refu'ah.
