I soak my cholent beans because my mom did that.
What is the reasoning behind? For bugs? For taste? How long do you guys leave them soaking?

So if I prepare it overnight and only put it to cook in the AM, all I should need is a quick wash. ..?
Just confirming this.

If by preparing it overnight you mean letting it sit in liquid then yes, that's good enough. Resume with the cooking tomorrow

To lessen the “gaseous emissions”. The compounds responsible for them supposedly diffuse into the soaking water and get thrown out (or fed to your plants or whatever you do with the water).

For best result, after cooking beans pour off water, add new water WITHOUT salt and cook for approx. 30-45 min. Pour off water and add to your cholent.
I prepare large amounts and freeze in plastic bags and take out every week a bag. Nobody getting gassy (which I hate!)

Beans are very high in phytic acid which is an anti nutrient. Basically in order to digest , it pulls mineral from your body. To reduce the phytic acid soak overnight with a spoon of apple cider vinegar.

Roots, I realize I didn't express myself very clear. I mean I hate eating cholent and getting gassy because of the beans.
