I wipe my kids (poo) until they tell me they want to do it themselves.
From my experience, ranges between age 5 - 8. Usually younger for girls.
I don't like to encourage them to wipe themselves earlier than they want to, because I don't like it when they don't wipe properly.
In many cases they'll wipe themselves if they go in school, and they'll still call me to wipe them if at home.
For pee, for girls, they usually wipe themselves from younger (age 3 or so), or don't wipe at all.

Same as Salt. I prefer they ask me as long as they need to because less than thorough bum wiping is gross and makes more work for me (laundry stains, sore or itchy skin, etc). We use water when we wipe, for ease and health, and they need help juggling everything. My seven year old is independent now, but was asking for occasional help until quite recently.

Pee is much easier... Maybe 3-ish? As soon as they have the coordination to rip the right size, and reach.

I'm sorry but 7-8 sounds way too old.
My daughter was 6 when she started getting shy of being naked in front of me.
I never wiped past the age of 4. Till 5 I think is the oldest acceptable age.
Teach your child to use flushable wipes. Its really not something a 6 year old should be needing help with.

Flushable wipes are terrible for the plumbing and for the budget. At four or five, they can start to learn but their arms are barely long enough to reach! Do you also make them bathe alone at that age?

I think 4-5 is the normal range, but it's okay and normal for a child to take a little longer. I had one child who was closer to 6 when she was ready to take charge of her own bathroom hygiene.

Also, my experience is limited to girls. I don't know about boys.

By age 5 a child should be fully trained day and night and be able to wipe on his own.

Do all of you saying age 3-4. Your kids probably stink.

My kids start wiping themselves in school from as soon as they're trained because they don't have much of a choice. At home, j wipe them as long as they ask me to. It was a change that happened over time. They asked me less and less often until they stopped asking completely. By seven they rarely asked. By eight they completely stopped asking.

I remember wiping my siblings. They were probably in preschool/1st grade. After that they stopped.
