You can sprinkle fried onions in the center on top before serving. You can find it in the local supermarket

Make a soup you know you can make well
A few good easy ones:
Carrot ginger
Tortilla soup
Lentil
Potato leek

U can make a creamy butternut and a green soup like potato leek. Serve in one bowl with terra stix or crushed veggy chips in the center as garnish.

Sweet Potato Soup (orange) served with (green) pumpkin seeds:
8 quart pot (not sure how many servings)
Sautee a large diced onion & 3 fresh garlic cloves
dice 3 celery sticks
6 cubed peeled sweet potato
1 cup barley
white pepper & salt
2 Tbsp. Consomme
Cook about 1.5-2 hours then blend with stick blender
sprinkle with pumpkin seeds when serving

I make a two colored soup that is really easy. It's green and red. You pour it into the bowl from two pitchers at the same time. Not too much effort for a really pretty dish.
The ingredients are:
saute onions
add pepper (green or red for the two different colors)
add frozen garlic cube or fresh garlic
add water and cook until soft.
boil potatoes in a separate pot.
Season with salt and pepper and little hot sauce. (You may add soup mix of your choice if you like.)
Each soup in blended using a stick blender. I never like to patchke in the kitchen, but this is not hard, and comes out really nice.
If you want exact recipe, I can look it up.
