I want to make a pareve cholent and have cholent meat available on the side. Can I cook *just* cholent meat in the crock pot and it will come out okay? Anything else I need to add in there, aside from a little oil on the bottom? Or do I need to season it fully b/c it won't be cooking with all the spices in the cholent?
Thanks for any help keeping both the vegetarians and the meat-eaters happy

I would cook it in sauted onion, garlic & spices. Maybe add some water if it gets dry.

It can but you need more then oil. you need a liquid sauce at the bottom. Sear the meat first and put in a medley of sauteed rot veggies.

Thanks very much for answering. I couldn't bear to sear it first (to me, searing first takes all the ease out of crock pot usage, although I do agree that it makes the meat taste SO much better), but b''eH it will still come out good. I put in oil, fresh onion, garlic, potatoes and the meat. Figured if I did any more, I'd be making two cholents .
Shabbat Shalom and thank you both for the help!

my mother does this all the time. She puts in a big piece of meat with I think onions and seasoning. No liquid at all!!! Its delicious.
