Far Rockaway Rental

We are looking to leave Brooklyn and move to the FR/5T area. We are not sure exactly which area we want to settle in and the rentals seem mainly in Far Rockaway so I guess we will start off there and then buy a house when we know where we want. I am hoping to be renting for max a year. Will most people require a year lease or can we do it month to month? We have three little kids and I have no problem with a two bedroom so we can save money. Will two bedrooms not want us with three kids and we'll have to take a three? If we take a two family house will my kids be allowed to use the yard? What is the going rate for nice sized two bedroom and what is the going rate for three? I am not interested in a basement. How much of a community is Far Rockaway? If I am renting in a multi family home will I be noticed as a new person on the block or not really?

1800 for a 2 bedroom, 2300 for a smaller 3 bedroom, 2500 for a bigger 3 bedroom

Yes Far Rockaway is a friendly community, but it is much easier to meet people when the weather is nice out- when it's cold, people are not outside socializing
