DH works in an office with the company's owner, along with three managers, all Jewish, all not frum. Two men and two women, all married with grown children.
I need suggestions about what to give them for Chanukah.
I was thinking about something in the $25-50 price range per gift.
Maybe an expensive bottle of wine, or deluxe boxes of chocolate gelt.
I would appreciate any suggestions.
TIA!

In most places it’s considered improper for a subordinate to give gifts to a boss because it smacks of sucking up at best, bribery at worst. Don’t do it.

Agree with Zaq. I have never bought a gift for an employer ever, frum or not. Its really inappropriate.

The only time I've bought a gift for a boss was when ALL the employees chipped in together to buy the gift and it came with a note from all of us.

Hmmmm, never thought it would be considered inappropriate
In any case, would it still be inappropriate if the boss also gives gifts to his employees...He always gives the workers Turkeys for Thanksgiving, and fruit baskets for the new year...

The boss may give gifts to the employees, but employees can git in legal trouble down the line if they give gifts to employers.

I agree with everyone above. However, you should definitely write a nice thank you card for the gifts he gives (in which you can wish them a happy Hanukkah).

I agree with the above posters. It looks odd to give them a gift for Chanukah. If you would really like to buy them a gift, then Purim would possibly be a more appropriate time when you can incorporate it into a mishloach manos.

Bosses giving gifts to employees is totally normal but not the other way around.

I have a frum employer and neither of us gives each other Mishloach Manos. It crosses boundaries. We are not friends, he is my boss even if we live in the same neighborhood and are part of the same religious community.
