I tried 3 times with different packs of yeast, and they're all barely bubbling, very slowly even in a warm place. If I use it, will my challah not rise? Should I try again?

ive had that too. as long as it bubbled the challah rose. obviously the quick real big bubbles are gonna give you better challah. but if this is what you have then it will be ok. the challah might just be a little more dense. I would let it sit more time and add a teaspoon of sugar.

There's already sugar and yeast and water but it's bubbling very slowly and less than other times.

you can use it. Just let it rise a little longer near a warm oven.

Trick: final rise - turn oven on to 220 and place challahs in warm oven for 20 minutes.

Is the water warm? Check if the yeast expired.

If it's bubbling at all, you should be OK. If the only bubbles you see are little bits of trapped air, you probably have dead yeast.

Isn't dry yeast fool-proof?

I didn't see all the responses before I went and bought more yeast and this bubbled a little more than two of the others so I used it. It could be the first few would have rose too, but I threw them out.
