specifically looking for bins that can store board games such as monopoly and risk once the boxes break, as well as various card games like uno and top trumps and puzzles? I need quite a number of each so price is a concern. thanks

Rubber bands for cards, and plastic bags for pieces.

One container for all card games.

Pieces and cards for board games each get a pocket on a over-the-door shoe hanger. If you want to be really organized, print pictures to put on the front of each pocket.

Store game boards in a desktop fiIe sorter. It may be helpful to color code the game boards, the bags and the pockets, with those colored stickers. It will be easier to clean up, and easier to find when taking out to play.

Pretty cheap, compared to other options.

good ideas but my kids r still the age that they would pull down the whole show hanger or unload the entire file sorter.. which is why I would prefer bins..

How old are your kids? Maybe your expectations are unrealistic. My just-5-year-old can take out a game from this type of setup, may need some help to put back. But a year ago if she couldn't do that then I'd just accept that little kids need help with things like this. I have so many games that I wasn't able to put them all on shelves that could be reached, so I still just kind of give in to the reality that kids will need help accessing their playthings sometimes. And having them organized helps *me* take them out and put them away effectively.

ages 2 to 10 kah with lots of friends over . I'm not an organized person by nature so even this sorting and organizing is a lot for me. plus I'm the type to let the kids play alone w their friends in the playroom so try to keep it simple. I have a lot of closet space so the space is not an issue and I think if the kids and their friends will need to look in 2 places for their board game it's confusing. definitely when it comes to cleaning up. LOL

Measure your largest board in its folded state and then try to search for a bin that would fit tbe measurements.
Then stack all boards in one flat bin.
Maybe something like this, depending on your measurements.

That looks great! That lid looks hard to open/ close. Im going to measure the board games today. I feel like theres the square boards and the long ones, so maybe would need 2 different sizes.

yes. I'm so excited to get it . we sorted through all our card games today and put them in bags for its arrival lol. the bag option doesn't really work long term here .

now for board game boxes, I need about 20 so want something not more than $5. I need 10×10 size for square games and about an 18×9 for the rectangle boards. any links of wisdom from u women?

oh and also what's a cheap good labeler option?

I have one of those label machines that dans deals posts every so often for $10 its a sticker that prints out on one line whatever you need. I labeled each small card container with the name of the game

Check this out for how to organize board games.

http://www.raisinglemons.com/m.....tion/

We did this a couple of years ago and it has been amazingly easy to maintain. The pieces for each game are in a labeled plastic drawer (boards have to be stored on the side or on top, but it doesn't end up being a big deal). I bought the drawers at Target in two different sizes for smaller and larger games (or those with more or fewer pieces).

Also, we put card games in plastic index card holders (cost about $1 apiece at Target, especially during school supply season). And puzzles in those clear plastic zipper bags that come with linens/blankets.

anon bec I've (enthusiastically!) told a lot of people about this IRL!

I just googled the card holder to post it and then realized it’s an old thread and I posted it already.
The last one posted from target is a much smaller version. For less card games.
