If you were newlyweds in the US what wedding gift would you appreciate from Israel? Something that I can send back in someone else's suitcase.

A challah cover or small framed Hebrew papercut would be nice.

The papercut is a nice idea. Like a wall hanging?

I personally got 13 challa covers for my wedding so I hesitate to get that, unless times have changed since then.

Maybe something for Pesach, even though they probably won't be making Pesach for a number of years still?

And if you're a relative seeing this post and recognize me, please, by all means, tell me what they'd like :-)

* Small framed birkat habayit or similar from Geula
* silver plated or glass menora are a lot cheaper here (also Geula)
*buy something cute from Fox home, housewares etc
Also you can buy cheap kitchen gadgets near/ in the machane Yehuda shuk
* there's a place you can get a small painting on a Jerusalem stone. Also nice decor

Not newlywed and not in the US but may I suggest, in addition to challah covers and tablecloths, there are other textiles that are packable: decorative platta covers, heatproof and/or decorative fabric runners for the shabbat table, wall hangings (canvas, fabric or lightweight metal), dishtowels, placemats etc.

I only give checks for wedding presents. I have so many gifts that are still sitting in my storage room because I never had a need for them and couldn't return them.
