I accepted a job that is better for me re hours and location. How do I tell my current boss that I am quitting as of December 25?

Yes, ask to see him/her privately for a moment. Say you are giving two weeks notice. There is no need to volunteer why, but if you want to or are asked, you can say another opportunity has become available. Be sure to thank him/her for the opportunity at your current place of employment.
And do it tomorrow. Giving less than two weeks' notice is unprofessional. It's best to leave on good terms.

This. Two weeks is the bare minimum.
