I have a brisket I’d like to use for Shabbos lunch. Is there any way I can make it and not ruin the meat by over cooking?

Only if you have a crockpot that you can set to low and it will automatically switch to keep warm after 10 hours or so.

I didn’t even know there was such a thing.
Can I use it instead of cholent meat?
I also have a beef tongue. Is there anything I can make with either of these meats?

Can you cook the beef tongue now, slice it and refrigerate it? Serve at room temperature or put it on top of the cholent pot to warm shabbos day.

Thanks for your tips. I am just desperate for a hot, easy one pot meal that isn’t cholent! And I am not in the mood of cooking tongue now. But I might if I need to...

This sounds like it could work. Can I please get a recipe/method?

Put sliced onions in bottom of crockpot. Add the brisket. Pour a bottle of BBQ sauce (whatever kind you like) all over the meat. Turn on the crockpot to low before you light candles. Shred the beef before serving. I make this all the time and it's a huge hit. Serve on tacos or with rice or mashed potatoes.

I hope this was an oversight, but halachically you can’t put a meat into a crockpot so soon before Shabbos! All food must be at least 3/4 cooked by the time Shabbos starts!

Actually, the halacha is that the food has to be either at least 2/3rds cooked or fully raw at the time of candlelighting.

This what I did this past Shabbat with a corn beef, it can work for a brisket as well.

You need to ask your LOR

Cook the brisket completely and slice it.
Make a sauce/gravy.
Before Shabbat take the sauce/ gravy and put it on the blech, with extra water if needed.

On Shabbat morning take the brisket out so that it gets to room temperature.
Before you are ready to serve, pour the hot sauce on top.

Ask your LOR if this is ok.

This is the application of the halacha. Feel free to check with your own local orthodox rabbi if it doesn't sound right to you. Nobody is asking you to change what you currently do.

You're right. It's very dangerous to post the correct halacha.
