Something that lasts long, applies nicely.

Also, I like the matte/ no so shiny looks.

Essie weekly, bottle looks twisted...the best polish ever. If you buy it in a store I think it’s called gel polish but it’s applied like regular polish, no uv light needed and you can remove yourself at home with regular nail polish remover.

I'll second that.
I haven't tried too many other ones though but from those that I have this goes on nice and lasts longest plus it's not gel and you can remove at home. win-win.

I usually wear ballet slippers and similar colors in regular essie nail polish. Which color name would you suggest in essie gel?

The essie gelish range is amazing.
The brush is so easy to apply the polish to your fingers and they have a fab range of colors. You need to buy the gelish top coat and the color is the base and color in one.

That specific one from Essie doesn’t have too much of a shine? I don’t like too shiny on my nails.

Also, what’s the equivalent to their reg maidmoiselle color?

I think Essie weekly sheer fantasy would be similar to madamoiselle color. Not sure which one would be similar to ballet slippers

I have 3 colors from the Essie gel line. I absolutely love them!
It’s so easy to apply and looks really. Ice.
1. Pre show jitters - white with a really light pink undertone.
2. Pinned up - it’s a pink, light but not baby pink
3. Take me to thread- purpl grey

All 3 great colors

I love it to. I found that the different nail salons near me had different colors in stock. I wear basically light pinks and they have a bunch.
I personally love the shiny look and look for sparkly and shiny pinks

How long does it take to dry for color and top coat, and how long does it last?

Maybe 20 min?
One salon advertises it as 2 week polish, the other as 10 day polish. A week after its done it usually looks pretty good. 2 weeks is pushing it. I sometimes wait it out but my then it shows. Right now I had my nails done Wednesday and I have little chips on two fingers, otherwise perfect condition. AND that's with some dish washing and a lot of kid washing.

The polish alone didn’t last me more than 2-3 days though.
Do you all wear a top coat with it?

Those who love the Essie one in the curved bottle - do you use a base coat or just start with the color? I bought a set of color+top coat (FYI, it was at Lot Less! But sometimes that means it's stale or something. So I'll try it and find out) I have base coat of the regular line, not the curved/gel one, and not sure whether it's necessary - the fewer steps the better for me because fewer chances to mess up and waste time.

I like the Essie gel. Always use a base coat. Any brand. Not necessarily the Essie.

I once got a travel size Christian Dior for free. Oh my god it applied like a dream! Looked so professional. I wish they'd sell travel sizes of different colors because I don't want to spend almost 30 bucks on a single color!
