Time outs don't work (they are effective for other behaviors, but for this, the offender just continues to tease and say mean things from where they're sitting). I have tried taking things away, that doesn't work either and honestly I can see why, it's not really a logical consequence. I talk to them during calm times, how it hurts when you are teased or called mean names, so don't do it to your siblings, and they agree, but they still go back to that behavior. I've tried not giving it attention, but it nearly always escalates to a point where ignoring is no longer an option. What can I do to stop it? To send the message that it's not tolerated around here? While all my kids squabble, the nastiness and name calling is worst between the 6 and 4 year olds, so it needs to be something geared to that age.
