Not that it matters much but I'm pretty sure Chulda means a weasel.

No, it's a rat in modern day Hebrew.

What are examples of Jewish names that WOULDN'T go in yeshivish circles?

I have seen all kinds of names in the yeshivish world and an uncommon name did not make anyone less accepted. If anything, I see some Hebrew names that wouldn't go in chassidish circles, but then again chassidim also have plenty of Yiddish names that are uncommon elsewhere.

Yonina
Yedida (as well as having a beautiful meaning it comes from Tanach also -- end of Shmuel Beis, I believe)

IME Nechama is common and Hila would not fly so much (very common chiloni name, though I know a charedi-lite Hila); anyone know a yeshivish or chareidi Hila?

DDs best friend is Hila. Israel Chareidi, American-Israeli mother. She seems well accepted.
Are you in the us or Israel? The hoice varies a little. Also some names would be acceptable for a Chareidi Sefardi in Israel, but not Ashkenazi.

Maybe she meant yeshivish as in American (not chareidi)? In that case, names like orly or or hila will NOT fly.
Op what about names that are Yiddish, but sound more American? I like Bella and Malya.

We're yeshivish and we live in Israel, but all family live in chutz l'aretz. So it needs to be something that would fit in Israeli chareidi circles but also sound nice and acceptable to English speakers, I don't want anything davka Israeli sounding.

Thanks for all the suggestions, some really nice names Smile

An uncommon name won't make someone less accepted as a person but it can cause them discomfort. I know people with uncommon names who really dislike them. To the extent of using a nickname and pretending they don't even have their real name.

It is well known in Yeshivish circles that the Chazon Ish cautioned parents to heavily consider
their child's future feelings before giving a name saying that failure to do so is a prohibition of many mitzvos bein odom l'chavoroy.

I've also seen secular studies which claim that personal popularity is influenced by how well liked a name is. A Jennifer or a Julie has a better chance of being popular than a Spurgeon or a Finnian even if all other personal factors are the same.
