Thinking of eliana, but I hate nickname ellie..friend suggested Liana..is it out there? Does anyone know others with Liana? I don't want pple to confuse her with Eliana all the time!

I know at least 3 Lianas. All are from MO families if that makes a difference to you.

ETA: I also know numerous Eliana's and have never heard anyone call any of them Ellie.

I know one Conservative Liana, in the frum world I only know Eliana's, none of whom are called Ellie. (I associate Ellie with Elisheva).

I assume it means 'He Answered Me' - ליענה
I know a non-Jewish Liana, but seems like the origin of the name is Hebrew.

My daughters name is Eliora (hashem is my light) we call her Ellie. She is the most sweetest and the most lovely child of ours.
Ps nothing wrong with calling her Ellie LOL

I knew two Liana's when I was at school, neither of them are Jewish though. I didn't know it has a Hebrew root. Interesting. It's a nice name I think.
