What's your waiting time? Vote!

Feel free to add comments, like telling us where this minhag is from.
You can also tell us your minhag before you got married.

That should be interesting.

I grew up waiting 6 hours.

When I married my second husband his Minhag is to wait 3 hours.

So it's interesting. My daughters from my previous marriage wait 6 (their father's Minhag) but my husband and I wait 3 hours (and so will our children when it becomes relevant).

1hr after fleishig to eat milchig (plus an after bracha). Dh is yekke with Dutch ancestry.

When I was single I kept 6, after Dh and I married we kept 3 until his Rav told us we should be keeping 1 because of the Dutch mesorah.

In fact, I'm going to have something dairy now, although it's been 2hrs since my meatloaf, hehe. Dh jokes that we're obligated to eat something dairy an hour later and it's easy since we have ice cream, hehe.

5 after poultry, 6 after meat. a nursing kimpeturin who needs milk to increase her milk supply, according to a family psak can drink if she's had a nap in between and it's 3 or 4 hours or more (such as friday night summer, I ate chicken at 11 pm, then woke up at 3 am hungry & thirsty and craving a coffee, and I asked a male relative who told me that as a kimpeturin, having slept off the chicken it's like a 'new day' and I can drink milk), but dont rely on this psak Smile.

Mama bear, that's really interesting about the Psak you got

I never heard of drinking milk as being a way to increase milk supply

Drinking a glass if water before and also after every single feed and eating really well, drinking tons jn general and getting as much rest as possible are all things that would help with milk supply

I've also heard of certain herbs (fenugreek?) and teas (herbal teas) to help increase milk supply

But if it works for you, great!😀

Waited 6 before marriage, now 5 1/2.

I got a psak while I was pregnant and nauseous that if I was craving milchig after fleishig, I could wait 1 hour and brush my teeth.

Before I got married I waited 6. DH's family minhag is "in the sixth hour" meaning 5 hours and 1 second already counts. So I voted 5.

DH and I wait 6hours. However, all our kids are born in a community where the standard is 3hours so I let them keep 3hours (also still under BM age). I'm often the only one who cannot touch pizza melava malka while everyone seems to be happily tucking them in.
