what kind of food processor would you recommend?
I want to get something strong that will last and with a really big bowl part.

I really like my Braun food Processor. It's strong, functions smoothly, it has more types of blades, including one to whip eggs, and the bowl is big enough for me. I got mine two years ago, for $90.00, for Pesach, and switched it for Chometz, then bought another one for the following Pesach.
One real test of a food processor is can it handle the horseradish? My old one couldn't.

You can get one with a spout that diverts the food into any bowl you choose. That way the size of the included bowl doesn't matter. It does mean washing an extra few pieces, though.

about the braun, I broke my bowl when I tried to make my own bread crumbs from frozen challah. (if you make breadcrumbs youself and put right into freezer, you don't have to check them!)

Does that mean that you have to check the bought brands? Like you have to check matzo meal? Hmm.

In Israel, probably. Otherwise, I doubt it.
My mother has a Braun, which she loves. Especially the kugel blade. I hate my food processor, but it takes up very little space, which is a big maaloh in my tiny kitchen.

I have a braun too, and I love it. I just hate washing it out!

ok I've looked around at food processors and found that the kitchenaid is rated the best with cuisinart a close second.
now my question is how big should I get? I'm thinking of the 9 cup but wondering if its worth it to spend an extra 60 dollars to get the 11. practically how large does the bowl need to be to make say a 9x13 pot. kugel? or to knead a batch of dough how much will fit in the 9 cup?
any suggestions will be much appreciated!

I have the cuisinart 11 cup, and its great. I wouldnt trade it for anything. I always make my 9 x 13 kugels and cakes in it, every week for shabbos, plus all my salads, etc.
I dont know how to make shabbos without it, actually.
