When I first got married, my husband said that friends are more important and I said family. I am very close to my family (we have a large one b"h) and he was far away from his. Now I'm far away from my family and he's closer to his. The funny part is, that he never calls up his friends and say hi, but to his family he does. Maybe it's a guy thing.

Both my husband and I are closer to our families than to friends. My parents have one or two friends that are AS close as family, but not MORE THAN.

My family are like friends (my parents have always been my best friends) but I do have friends who are like family to me. So I do feel like I have the best of both worlds in that way, although I'm like all people and have sometimes had disappointments in both kinds of relationships.
My husband likes both family and friends but he's a lone wolf, mostly connecting with and confiding in me. When I mention this to him and he realizes that, on some level, I'm it, he actually visibly shudders. So flattering!

My family thinks I am stark raving mad for becoming frum and living in E.Y...so I'm not so close to them, unfortunately..

Family first! my best friend is my husband, then my mom. Many of my cousins are my friends too. It's lovely that even with big differences we are friends because we don't judge the other, it's our own flesh and blood!
One of my favorite cousins is a non frum, socialist member. And still we get along - I don't comment her tattoo (she knows though what I think), she doesn't comment my wig (and I know she finds it nutty )

Before I got married I was a real friends person 24/7 on the phone to them
Now married nearly three years have one friend that kept up with, talk to her app. 4 times weekly, stick to family and family.
Mother, husband, sister
and them again and again
