Does anybody know anything about the kashrus of Stevia sweetener? I am trying to follow a weight reduction program and they recommend Stevia. My husband remembers hearing that it is non-kosher. I sent an email to Star-K and have not heard back from them yet. I googled Stevia, but all I got were sellers of the product and nothing about the original product itself.
Anybody?

Boruch, I have a packet in front of me; it does NOT have a Star-K; it has an apple with a K in it. I don't know who this 'apple' is, and Stevia is not on Star-K's website.

I use stevia all the time but it can not use it for baking.
I tried it in a cake and it was inedible.

Stevia isn't a brand, it's a type of sweetener. Some have a hechsher and some dont.

Here's one example of kosher stevia:

Hope that helps.
