I will be spending sometime in the Lakewood area soon and am curious to know which are the best restaurants.
Are there "nice" places to go out, like with a waiter and a menu??
Which places do people like the most???

tastebuds on route 9 south is good for milichigs.
shwarma steakhouse is also ok, waiters fleishigs, but when I was there is was very noisy.
most other places are more casual like pizza, glatt-bite. when I want to go someplace more upscale I go to deal.

Ocean 656 in Deal is very nice (a little expensive) it is also right near thw water so you can pair it with a walk on the beach.
Mezenohbeh (I for sure spelled that wrong) is good for dairy - in the summer it gets very busy.
Lime - also nice dairy
Levy's in Manalapan - I have never been there but I hear it is nice and the food is good (dairy).
In Lakewood there is Yussi's sushi and steakhouse and On the Grill. I have never been to either.

limes is closed. levys is a pizza place, not at all fancy.
mazzonobeh is really variable quality- sometimes great sometimes not so great.

Lakewood - Yossi's sushi is good. On the Grill is pretty good, too. My fav is by far Tastebuds on Rt. 9. I think they have the best food and give you the most for your money!
In Deal there is also Kan Zaman, which is great (meat). Also Albert's Steakhouse.

There's a new fleishig place in Lakewood called "Steakhouse". Great great food! No waiters though.

for fish/dairy, there's the former la petite france now beneli cafe. Best salmon and rice I've ever eaten!(their dairy meals look fabulous but I can't have dairy....)
it's on kennedy I think, accross from stich and sew.

Zuma is way expensive, created controversy because it is located in a casino.
I liked On the Grill but it has a very limited menu.
Yussi's is ok, but it's more family style.
I like Tastebuds but my dh thinks its a ladies place.
Steakout is small and cramped and loud.

We tried Rimon Cafe' but when we showed up at 7:00 the place was empty (except two or three tables) and we were told they were completely booked up...
They did give us a menu so that we can peruse it at our leisure and make reservations for next time, but after we reviewed it we decided it wasn't our style at all. I guess it would have been different if we were already seated when we were handed menus...

I was there once but didn't eat much due to the company I was with. What I lived about the place is that the chef comes out and and speaks with you. He will tweak any dish to your tastes. And the hot chocolate was amazing!!!!

Tastebuds unfortunately closed down- I don't know of any other good dairy places here. On the grill is now called Reserved. It's under new ownership now, beautiful place pricey but well worth it you feel like your in Manhattan. Its located at the intersection of Kennedy and Clifton. Deal is nice and not too bad of a drive from lkwd(20 min) besides the above mentioned places there's Back to Nature organic/dairy, Dougies BBQ, and a chinese place on the same block as Dougies(Roosevelt) these are very reasonable. Have fun and let us Know where you end up!!
