AFAIK it's the Vaad of St. Louis. Maybe someone from St. Louis can give you more info or you can investigate on your own.

FWIW, we use it.

Oh my, I'm laughing out loud here. I just assumed it was some kind of vegan symbol!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought they were just mimicing the kosher symbols. Oh my. I can't remember what I saw it on thought, and it was a while ago...

There is a "V" symbol which means vegan-- a white V in a black box.

But there is also an OV which is a kosher symbol.

In case you are interested I know that the AKC--The Atlanta Kashrus organization worked very hard to make a card--about the size of a business card that you could keep in your wallet that is laminated and has all the reliable hechsherim that you'll find in the US.
You may be able to contact them to get one. It's already come in handy so many times for me while shopping and traveling.

OV is reliable. The OU accepts it as well. The most "popular" item that I've seen it on is the Wilton products.

My mom called Rabbi Wikler from the kashrus magazine the 1st time we saw the OV (I was still a kid), and he said it was fine.

This hechsher is fine. It is on a lot of the no name cereals and stuff. At one point, rice crispies was dairy equipment so the one with the OV was pareve-great for rice crispies squares.

I'm so glad I found this post! Trader Joe's gluten-free breads now carry this hecksher- a few months ago they carried Udi's breads which have an OU. Good to know that this is fine- unless anything has changed in the past 7 years to make it less reliable?

I couldn't find it on the kosherquest website, but I also had some computer issues that prevented all the images from loading.

Oh, my. Looks like I haven't updated my signature in about 5 years. I should go fix that.

Just for future reference, the CRC has a list of common reliable hechsherim
