I keep getting a leaflet from some veteran's association that will take clothing donations and will give a receipt for tax purposes. I'd love to give my stuff to a gemach, but they're so picky. now if only I could find that leaflet...

Thanks Gamzu!

All clothes, linens, shoes and handbags.

Young Israel of Brighton Beach
718-385-5002 - They pick up, you call they tell you when they will be in your area, and either you can leave it on a porch, be home, or leave it outside. They'll leave you a receipt.

Everything has to be in plastic bags, no boxes.

I don't know it offhand but I can look at the posters tonight, they're up all over my neighborhood. I actually mentioned it to my mom yesterday and she said there's a woman on 45th st. in BP that takes clothing, I can try to get her info tonight as well if anyone's interested.

Why do they charge YOU for what you could just as easily chuck in the garbage?

I didnt ask, but generally when they collect clothing and send it to israel, they need to collect money to cover the cost of the container.
