does anybody have a fail proof recipe for sufganiot in the deep fryer? I tried making them one yr, but the dough was too sticky, and the whole thing just didn't work. I would like to try to fill them with caramel. (is that done before or after frying?)
thanks

Caremel sounds good! Sorry I can't advise on when to use it. I'd think after frying if it's liquid and before if solid.

I gotta say I'm having same issue ... last year doughnuts were raw on the inside ... could that be because it called to put in the filling before frying ...

well I got a shot filler syringe ... Twisted Evil while it's scary looking I think that'll make the difference - but I too am looking for a fool proof dough to deep fry ... who needs a raw doughnut ...

so ... whose gonna help us out ...

I use www.secretdonutrecipe.com's recipe. And I stuff them with caramel; you do it after frying.

Have you ever had potato bread? It's the same thing; they make them really soft and fluffy. You can't taste the ptoato at all.

someone posted a recipe that was made with leben that was really good (and very easy - no yeast and rising to deal with. The batter was very wet but you just dropped it by the spoonfull into the batter)

I filled it with custard but I would assume that caramel would work the same. I used an infant medicine syringe to fill it and it worked great.

this is a great, easy and yummy recipe!! I made it this week with rave reviews!
DONUTS:
1/2 cup warm water
1 tsp. sugar
1 packet dry yeast (the yellow pack I think it's a little more than an ounce)
dissolve yeast with water and sugar until foamy
in a mixing bowl add:
4 cups flour
1 stick margerine
pinch salt
2 Tbsp sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 Tbsp. brandy or bronfen
1 cup water
if sticky add 1/2 cup flour
let rise one hour
cut donuts (I used a glass cup) put on floured cookie sheet, let rise again for 15 minutes
heat oil in pot with a carrot
drop donuts into hot oil
lower flame and fry covered for 4 minutes on each side
drain on paper towels and fill with custard and sprinkle on confectionary sugar
enjoy!!!
