I've heard that even regular (meaning not the 'no boil") lasagna noodles dont need to be pre-boiled before making lasagna.

Can anyone confirm or deny?

confirmed. I make my lasagna with uncooked noodles & pour a cup of water around before I put it in the oven.

It's a matter of taste. I used to not cook the lasagna noodles b/4 and put in a lot of sauce, but I still found it had a "clay like" consistency. so now I cook the noodles and I must say it's much better

I, nor my mother have ever cooked lasagna. The trick: When you finish using the jar of tomato sauce, put water in it, swish it around and pour around the outsides. Then, cover when cooking until the very end. Yummy.

You don't have to preboil but you need more liquid and a longer cooking time.

I pre boil.

I never preboil the lasagna.
But in addition to just adding water, I boil the water that I add.
Comes out really yummy!

I never boil for meat or dairy... I just use extra tomato sauce, especially on the bottom.

I don't boil the noodles ever. I do put a lot of souce and cover the lasgna while baking. I remove the cover on a dairy lasgna for the last five or ten minutes so the cheese browns nicely.

If you don’t preboil, remember the starch goes right into your food.

I don't boil, but sometimes find that the top layer of noodlest is under-done. Am I using too little liquid? Last time, I flipped the entire lasagna over 3/4 of the way through and added a little more water. That worked, but what a pain! I'd rather pre-boil just those top noodles.

You need to put in extra liquid and then cover the pan with aluminum foil tightly and it cooks all the noodles. I like it better cuz it cooks the sauce right into the noodles and makes it more flavorful. I use almost double the sauce when I dont boil the noodles.

I cook my noodles even if it means another pot to wash. I find that even with extra liquid uncooked ones are too gummy.
