Cucumber salad

1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup white vinegar
1 or 2 cloves garlic (crushed)
6 kirby cucumbers sliced
salt to taste

In a mixing bowl combine 1 1/4 cups water with the above ingredients - mix - then add sliced cucumbers. Refrigerate for 1 hour before serving.

you can add dill also! this is a really yummy salad, healthy too! (I think they call it health salad in the stores?)

Ooh red onion sounds good, but the kid hates onion. Don't feel like picking them out for him.

I added black pepper. Will have to have to try dill next time.

I made this salad and definately (for typical cucumber salad) calls for onions... Also felt I had to add more sugar and vinegar (and salt) came out great and keeps fresh a long time!

I don't use garlic or red pepper, but do use red onion (if I have it around) I make it at least 24 hours in advance.

I'd love to make this salad., but I refuse to buy cucumbers at the moment because of the cost. A couple of months ago they were three for £1, now they are priced at £1.49 each. Exploding anger
So I'll stick with what is in season instead.....
