Dinner and Lunch:
Oven baked shnitzel with fried crispy onions
Sweet potato pie
Green beans
Soup
Salad
Deli Roll
Seasoned crispy potatoes

I also need to make shabbos lunch for a friend that just had a baby. So I'll just double what I made.

First I put a package of chicken breasts in a baking pan, slather all the pieces with mayo and spices, then add sauteed onions to the chicken, and mix the onions around with the mayo and chicken. Then I pour bread crumbs over the entire mess. The onions become crispy in the oven.

It's such a delicious and easy chicken. I just made it up a few weeks ago, and it's gotten fairly good reviews!

Boy is everyone making me feel guilty! Maybe we shouldn't allow this thread, because it makes me feel bad Wink LOL

I'm having MIL takeout for Friday night and Shabbos day. Hashem should bless her with only Nachas from all of her children, children-in-law, and grandchildren.

SaraG, You're the Julia Child and Martha Stewart of Yiddishkeit all rolled together...all I have to do is read a posting or two of yours and I have new ideas for food! Have you considered launching your own food website...you could call it "Foodishkeit" (Food-Dish-keit)... Thumbs Up

I feel it my obligation LOL LOL LOL relaying our shabbos meal occurance that happened with the above meal embarrassed
Our oven light has to be switched on before shabbos otherwise light goes on when oven door is opened. (I heat up food in oven before shabbos, turning oven off right before lighting. Food stays pipping hot until we eat)

ANYHOW------------------ as my bil was closing oven door after removing challah I REALIZED I'D FORGOTTEN TO PUT ON THE LIGHT, meaning we couldn't open the oven anymore, and there went our shabbos meal!!!!!!!!!

We had our fish and chicken soup..... and mousse for dessert.however the bigger problem was that I was relying on leftovers from Friday night to supplement the day meal... Aside from mousse for dessert, all I had prepared was fish and cholent. No salads or anything else!!!

We took my bil with us to a fancy kiddush we were invited to as otherwise I didn't have much for them to eat.
Thank goodness we all had a good laugh and took it in stride.... but oh my golly- if not for the kiddush shabbos day we would've starved!!!!!!

Well, you might be the only one with the EXACT same menu, but I come pretty close: Homemade challah, gefilte fish, chicken soup, roast chicken and potato kugel every single week (except last Shabbos because I couldn't find the right potatoes). The salads and desserts vary, though, and sometimes I have an extra kugel.

Daytime: gefilte fish, eier mit tzvibel, cholent, kishke, deli meat 99% of the time. Usually kugel from the cholent - either potato or yerushalmi. Salads and desserts, again, vary.
