my friend is having a kiddush this shabbos for her daughter and I would love to try making these. Any advice? should I just use red food coloring and make extra white? I want to make them at the beginning of the week so I don't have pressure later on. thanks.

I make these sometimes, they are very pretty looking and would be a great idea for a girl kiddush IMO.

Also, you need to put a teeny tiny drop of food coloring into the white frosting at a time, because the color gets really dark if you put in too much.

I wanted to make black and RED cookies--- if adding red to the white makes it pink, any ideas how to keep it red? also, does anyone have a good recipe they can share? sorry for hijacking the thread!

The spice and spirit recipe is by far the best. Let me know if you want me to post it here.
Just add red food colouring, a drop at a time until you get the shade you want. It will give from pale pink to dark red, just add very slowly.

From what I've been reading, using food gel coloring and not liquid food coloring will get you vibrant colors.

And the company has a Hechsher (although I'm not sure who).
